A 21-year-old man has been arrested in relation to a series of arsons that occurred this fall in south central Edmonton.

Finbar Hughes, 21, was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, in Calgary for arson. In Edmonton, Hughes and has been charged with arson with disregard for human life, extortion, and possession of an incendiary material to commit arson in connection to three fires that took place in the Holyrood and Cloverdale neighbourhoods.

A previous news release was issued by the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) on Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, outlining Hughes’ warrants.
