The Edmonton Police Service’s Homicide Section has concluded an investigation into the 2023 homicide of 49-year-old Debbie Elaine Poole.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, Northwest Branch patrol officers responded to a call for assistance from Edmonton Fire Rescue Services after they located Poole at a residence near 123 Street and 128 Avenue.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, which confirmed that the woman died of an injury consistent with a stab wound, though at the time, the manner of death was undetermined. Further investigation, including the reexamination of evidence, was conducted and the manner of the woman’s death is now considered homicide.

Detectives identified a male suspect in this investigation who was known to the woman, though no charges were pursued as he has passed away. Police are not seeking any additional suspects.
