Child in need of intervention 

On June 29, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a grocery store parking lot in the area of 185 Street and Stony Plain Road for the report of a child needing intervention. Upon police arrival, it was determined that the female suspect had parked her vehicle, took two young children into the store and left a toddler in the vehicle, which was locked and turned off. After the child was in the vehicle for nearly 50 minutes, witnesses forced the rear window down and took the child out. Charges are pending against an adult female.

Stabbing

On, July 1, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m. officers responded to the report of a stabbing at the Funicular. Reportedly, a group of eight individuals were drinking in the area when a male in the group made sexual advances toward a female that was also part of the group. His advances were rejected, prompting the male suspect to break a glass bottle and repeatedly stab the female. The rest of the group then started to attack the female as well, prompting her to flee up the hill where she was picked up by a passing motorist and taken to hospital. The woman sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The incident remains under investigation.

Stolen vehicle

On July 1, 2024, at approximately 8:15 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a mismatched license plate. As officers approached the vehicle, it sped off and the officers did not pursue. The vehicle was located a short time later, a few blocks away and abandoned. Witnesses told officer they saw the occupants running from the vehicle and they were located by police in the area. The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen and was linked to another theft complaint. An adult male and female are now facing numerous charges.
