On May 19, 2024, High Risk Encampment Response Team members responded to an encampment complaint near 159 St and 104 Ave on a vacant fenced lot. Upon arrival, police found four structures located with people on site who were leaving. One female dropped a bag containing a sawed-off rifle, while walking away from the site. The woman was arrested and charged for multiple weapon offences. Several residents in the area approached members and expressed appreciation and relief that the HRET team had closed the camp, due to increased criminal activity consistent with drug trafficking.
