Call for service - Week of May 24 - May 27, 2024

Stabbing

On May 24, 2024, at approximately 12:35 a.m. officers responded to the Belvedere Transit Centre on Fort Rd. and 129 Avenue regarding reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located an injured 17-year-old male. It was reported that the male had been stabbed by an unidentified male suspect causing serious, non-life-threatening injuries. EMS responded to the transit centre and treated and transported the male to hospital. The suspect male fled the scene prior to police arrival. The incident remains under investigation.

Shooting

At approximately 5:54 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024, officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire at a parkade in the area of 108 Street and 47 Avenue. Upon arrival, police located a male who had been shot. EMS responded, treated and transported the adult male to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.  EPS Firearms Investigation Unit continues to investigate.

Weapons complaint

On May 27, 2024, at approximately 12:40 p.m., police were called to a school near 81 Street and 103 Avenue for reports of shots being fired. The school was subsequently placed on alert. Upon arrival, officers learned a vehicle had circled the building numerous times, before firing what was initially reported as gunshots at the school. Officers later confirmed that occupants of the vehicle had fired toy cap guns at the school. Police located the vehicle and suspects nearby. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
