Investigators continue to seek tips in 2023 fatal pedestrian collision

The Edmonton Police Service’s Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) continues to seek information about a fatal hit-and-run collision that claimed a woman’s life a year ago. 

On Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at approximately 9:15 p.m., a 31-year-old female pedestrian was struck while walking against the light at Victoria Trail near the Yellowhead overpass. The suspect vehicle, described as a blue minivan, reportedly fled the scene northbound on Victoria Trail. The gender of the driver was not known.

Witnesses to the collision attempted life-saving measures prior to the arrival of first responders. Unfortunately, the woman was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS.

The next day, on Oct. 31, 2023, the suspect vehicle was located abandoned in the area of 148 Avenue and 62 Street. The vehicle was a dark blue 2009 Volkswagen Routan that had been reported stolen.

EPS Major Collision Investigations Section continues to investigate this fatal collision, and is once again asking anyone with information to come forward by calling 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
