MRU #: 24R045

A prolific offender wanted on 62 warrants for multiple break and enter and theft-related crimes in both Edmonton and surrounding communities is now in custody and facing a plethora of new charges.

Between March and May of 2024, the accused, Mark Muise, 40, of Edmonton, reportedly committed multiple thefts at sporting stores in Edmonton, St. Albert, Strathcona County and Kitscoty, AB.

During the time of these thefts, the accused was also bound by a release order issued by the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) for firearms prohibitions and a probation order, as well as a release order issued by the RCMP.

Throughout May of 2024, the EPS Targeted Response to Auto Theft Prevention (TRAP) team identified Muise through CCTV footage related to the thefts and discovered he was also wanted for 62 outstanding criminal warrants out of Edmonton (35) and RCMP territory (27).

On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, EPS TRAP team members located Muise in a northwest Edmonton home near 110 Street and 111 Avenue. With the assistance of the EPS Tactical Section, officers were able to take the accused into custody.

In total, the accused is now facing dozens of charges including theft under and theft over $5,000, possession of break-and-enter tools, theft of credit cards and failure to comply with release and probation orders.

Muise has been remanded into custody until his first court date on June 7.
