The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) arrested a motorcycle driver earlier this week for multiple incidents of driving dangerously.
In July 2024, EPS launched an investigation into motorcycle riders driving dangerously throughout the city. Through its investigation, EPS became aware of a group of motorcyclists routinely driving dangerously throughout Edmonton in clear contravention of the law and then posting videos of these instances to social media accounts.
On September 2, 2024, EPS members arrested one of the suspected drivers and creators of these social media posts, Mhd Yasin Souidan, 23, and charged him with five counts of dangerous operation and was released from custody with a condition to operate a vehicle within the posted speed limit only. Mr. Souidan’s motorcycle was seized as evidence and to prevent continuation of the offence.

“Putting innocent people in harm’s way for the sake of posting social media videos is extremely reckless,” says Acting Sgt. Duane Bateman of EPS’ Major Collision Investigation Section. “Hopefully this will be a lesson to people who endanger our city’s streets for clicks or views online; our policing teams are working around the clock to ensure that these dangerous and criminal behaviours and activities come to a stop and that the individuals committing these offences are held accountable.”
