For Immediate Release: 16-Oct-2024 @ 11:30 AM
MRU #: H24R035-1

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged a 25-year-old Edmonton man in relation to the death of a man on a walking bridge over the weekend.

On Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, at approximately 9:15 p.m. police were contacted regarding an injured male on the Dudley B. Menzies Bridge, the walking path beneath the LRT bridge next to the High Level Bridge. EMS responded, treated and transported the 68-year-old male to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

On Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024, the Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy and determined that the 68-year-old male died as a result of blunt force injuries and the manner of death is accidental.

Investigators have since determined that Johnathan Clarke, 25, was operating a Talaria Sting MX4 electric dirt bike when he struck the man. He then immediately fled the area without calling for help or medical assistance. A stock photo of the bike is included below.
