Starting Friday, May 17th and running throughout the spring and summer months, EPS members will partner with City of Edmonton Peace Officers to focus enforcement on “hot spots” and problem areas where police continue to receive public complaints.
“Our goal is to reduce the volume of traffic related noise and speeding violations, while also motivating drivers to adhere to the regulations set in the Traffic Safety Act.” says EPS Const. Clint Stallknecht, of the EPS Traffic Safety Unit. “We understand that when spring begins, motorists want to take to the streets and enjoy the nice weather, but there is a safe and responsible way of doing so.”
In 2023, EPS received 991 noise complaints, and through Project TENSOR, there were 1305 charges and 163 Notice of Directions issued.
Project TENSOR will target most traffic offences including but not limited to:
•Noise Related Offences
•Speeding
•Stunting
•Helmet Violations
•General Equipment Violations
•Occupant Restraints
•Other Hazardous Moving Violations
•Suspended Drivers
•Document Offences and
•Criminal Code Offences
The Traffic Safety Unit is once again hosting Amnesty Testing Events, offering drivers the chance to assess their vehicle’s noise levels, address concerns, and seek guidance from police without fear or risk of a violation ticket.
Motorists are encouraged to bring their motorcycles and four-wheeled vehicles to NAIT Souch Campus (7110 Gateway Boulevard) on the following dates:
• Saturday, May 18, 2024 – Noon to 4:00 p.m.
• Saturday, June 1, 2024 – Noon to 4:00 p.m.
