Edmonton sonographer facing sexual assault charge

Police believe there may be additional complainants

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged a 53-year-old male sonographer with the sexual assault of a patient at his clinic. 

In mid 2024, police became aware that the accused had sexually assaulted a female patient while he administered medical imaging at an ultrasound clinic in Southeast Edmonton.

Following an investigation by the EPS, Aasim Syed Ahmed, 53 was charged with one count of sexual assault on Aug. 12, 2024.

Investigators believe Ahmed is still practicing as a sonographer, and there may be other patients who have been subject to sexual abuse while receiving medical care from the accused.

Police are encouraging anyone who has been targeted by the accused to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
