On June 12, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., police responded to a fire that occurred at a vacant property in the area of 96 Street and 105A Avenue. Upon arrival, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) located two females with life-threatening injuries. The females were treated and transported by EMS to hospital where they both later succumbed to their injuries.
The fire is being investigated as suspicious. As a part of their ongoing investigation, police are looking to identify two males who are considered persons of interest:

Assist to identify: Person of interest (Male #2)
“We are confident that a member of the public will be able to assist us with identifying one or both of these males so we can talk to them about any information they might have about what happened,” says Acting Detective Mike Rott of the EPS’ Investigative Response Team. “If you have any information that can help us with our investigation, please contact police immediately.”
At this time, police do not believe that this fire is related to Project Gaslight or the ongoing arson investigations in southwest and southeast Edmonton.
