Investigators believe there may be additional complainants

For Immediate Release: 14-Jun-2024 @ 9:12 AM
MRU #: SA24R004

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged a 21-year-old male with sexual assault.  This notice is being provided because investigators believe the accused is likely to have committed similar sexual assaults against youths or adults in or around Edmonton encampments.  EPS is encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

On Jun. 10, 2024, Jeremiah Savard, 21 was arrested and charged with five criminal offences in relation to a sexual assault that occurred that same day in an encampment in the area of 103 Street and 98 Avenue. Savard reportedly sexually assaulted a youth at knifepoint in his tent.  Savard is facing charges of sexual assault with a weapon, aggravated sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching, unlawful confinement and escaping lawful custody.

Savard’s DNA profile was also recently linked to a Nov. 17, 2023 sexual assault of an adult female that occurred in an encampment in the area of 111 Avenue and 82 Street. He is now charged with sexual assault and aggravated sexual assault in relation to that incident.

Savard has been remanded into custody. His next court appearance is Jun. 17, 2024.

Jeremiah Savard, 21
