Autopsy complete, charges laid in incident at MacEwan LRT station

An autopsy has been completed and charges were laid in relation to an assault and a death that took place at an LRT station in central Edmonton on Wednesday.  

This morning, Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, the Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on a 13-year-old male who police located deceased at the MacEwan LRT station on Wednesday. The cause of death is a stab wound, and the manner of death is confirmed to be homicide.

The deceased was part of a group of four youths and one 18-year-old male who reportedly assaulted a 34-year-old male and a 32-year-old female at the LRT station. The group of youths and the pair were not known to each other.

The three youths, a 15-year-old female, a 14-year-old female, and a 14-year-old male, and the 18-year-old male, Destynd Jackson, have been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possess offensive weapon dangerous to the public in relation to the altercation.

Homicide detectives continue to investigate.
