Autopsy complete in southside ravine death

An autopsy has been completed in the death of a woman that took place last weekend in Millcreek Ravine.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024, Southwest Branch patrol officers were called by Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) regarding a death in Millcreek Ravine just north of 85 Avenue and west of the Millcreek Ravine parking lot. EFRS responded to a reported fire in the area and, after extinguishing the fire, located a deceased person.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s office completed an autopsy on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, and confirmed that the death of Threna Waskahat, 31, was a homicide. The cause of death is being withheld for investigative reasons.

Homicide investigators continue to seek tips related to Waskahat’s death and are asking anyone who frequents the ravine and may have noticed activity in this area to contact the police as soon as possible. A map of the area is included below.
