Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) officers are investigating a fatal collision that occurred earlier this week.

On Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, at approximately 8:10 p.m., a 2004 Chevrolet Impala driven by a 21-year-old male was travelling southbound on 97 Street and approaching the intersection of 129 Avenue.

At the same time, a male pedestrian believed to be in his 50’s was crossing 97 Street north of 129 Avenue where crossing is prohibited. It was then reported that the Chevrolet Impala struck the pedestrian.

Police and EMS responded to the scene, where the pedestrian was, sadly, pronounced deceased. MCIS is investigating the collision.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed or has dash camera footage of this collision to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
