For Immediate Release: 13-Mar-2025 @ 5:00 PM
MRU #: TR25005

EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) is investigating a multi-vehicle collision that claimed the life of one motorist this morning in southwest Edmonton.

At approximately 7:40 a.m. today, Thursday Mar. 13, 2025, EPS Southwest Branch Patrol members responded to a collision in the intersection of 113 Street and 65 Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found four vehicles disabled from the collision.

Although the investigation remains preliminary at this time, it was reported to police that a 75-year-old female was driving a Honda CRV southbound on 113 Street approaching 65 Avenue. The CRV rear ended a Chevrolet Equinox operated by a 53-year-old female and continued southbound where it struck a Honda Civic operated by a 26-year-old female. The Civic then rear ended a Nissan Rogue operated by a 64-year-old female. The CRV continued southwest where it mounted a sidewalk and struck a tree.

EMS responded, treated and transported the CRV driver to hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Paramedics also treated and transported the driver of the Civic to hospital for precautionary reasons. No other injuries were reported.

MCIS has since taken over the investigation. At this time investigators believe the CRV driver suffered a medical episode prior to the collision.
