For Immediate Release: 08-Jan-2025 @ 12:09 PM
MRU #: TR25002

Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) officers are investigating a fatal collision that occurred yesterday.

On Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, at approximately 11 p.m., a 2005 Mazda A3 driven by a 34-year-old male was travelling northbound on 82 Street and entered the intersection of 123 Avenue on a green light. At the same time, a female pedestrian was crossing 82 Street westbound where crossing is prohibited. The Mazda struck the pedestrian, sending her into the path of a 2018 Honda CRV travelling in the next lane, which also struck the pedestrian. The Honda was driven by a 27-year-old female. Both drivers remained on scene.

Police and EMS responded to the scene, where the pedestrian was, sadly, pronounced deceased. MCIS is investigating the collision. Alcohol on the part of the pedestrian is believed to be a factor. Charges are not being considered at this time.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed or has dash camera footage of this collision to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
