Male arrested in connection to violent assaults involving sex trade workers

The Edmonton Police Service’s Sexual Assault Section (SAS) has arrested and charged a 22-year-old male in connection to a series of recent violent assaults on sex trade workers.

Warrants were initially issued for the arrest of Christopher Scott Walter, 22, of Edmonton, who was subsequently taken into custody at the Coutts Canada/U.S. border crossing on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, and transported back to Edmonton.

The accused is believed to have committed five violent assaults and robberies involving sex trade workers in Edmonton dating back to March 2024. Most recently, SAS detectives launched investigations into three separate incidents, which occurred on Saturday, July 6, 2024, wherein the accused violently assaulted and subsequently robbed three females.

Investigators have since charged Walter in connection to these additional incidents.

Walter is facing multiple charges including aggravated sexual assault (x2), aggravated assault (x2) and robbery (x5).
