MRU #: H24R035

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating the suspicious death of an adult male who was found injured on an LRT footbridge yesterday evening.

On Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, at approximately 9:15 p.m. police were contacted regarding an injured male on the Dudley B. Menzies Bridge, the walking path beneath the LRT bridge next to the High Level Bridge. EMS responded, treated and transported the 68-year-old male to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

Homicide Section detectives have since taken over the investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024.

“We are aware that there were numerous pedestrians and e-bike riders in the area at the time, and we are asking anyone with information to contact police immediately,” says Staff Sergeant Rob Bilawey with EPS Homicide Section.

“We also know that several of these people may have GoPro or similar cameras that were active at the time. What may seem like insignificant video, may have captured valuable information for investigators and we encourage them to come forward.”

Anyone with information or video related to this incident is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com/250.
