The Marine Unit patrols about 50 km of the North Saskatchewan River by jet boat and Sea-doos, providing education and enforcement of offences relating to river use, liquor and noise. Officers will be checking that boat operators have the proper licence, and all river users have the required safety equipment, such as a lifejacket with a whistle.
Citizens are encouraged to visit the Safe Boating Guide available from Transport Canada for a complete list of boat safety regulations, and the Environment Canada website to check weather and water levels.
