I am a Registered Psychologist with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals and couples in their process of growth. In 2003, I completed graduate studies at Fresno Pacific University in California where I was trained in depth psychology. This method places an emphasis on your inner world (the conscious and unconscious parts of you), your emotions, and your patterns of relating to yourself and others. This approach can be helpful to move beyond a superficial quick fix and facilitate a deeper and more sustainable change.
As a therapist, I hold the perspective that we are built for relationship, we require ways to endure and integrate suffering, we have a need to make meaning of our lives, we have an innate longing to grow, we do best when we are honest with ourselves and our circumstances, and we require healthy practices of work, rest, and play in order to be well. I believe that a positive therapeutic relationship should both address your most pressing concern and also lead to a more full expression of wholeness and resilience.
My practice is located at Roots on Whyte Community Building where I provide therapy to both individuals and couples. My training and experience has allowed me to work with people dealing with a broad range of issues including grief and loss, relationship problems, addiction, anxiety and depression, and existential concerns, for example. I also work with couples seeking to restore their bond, improve their communication, and deal with recovery from loss, addiction, and betrayal.
As a therapist, I recognize the risk involved in trusting another person with the difficult parts of your life and experience. I trust you will find me to be empathic, honest, competent, and committed to helping you in service of your goals. For more information, you are welcome to visit my website: www.jaybuhler.com.
