Krista Osborne is a Clinical Social Worker with a focus on individual and family counselling. Krista started her career in early 2000 in the area of crisis intervention and suicide prevention. After years working with individuals in crisis, Krista turned her focus to working in Mental Health on an inpatient Psychiatry program with Alberta Health Services. Here she worked with adolescents and their families dealing with a variety of mental health struggles including depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, psychosis, family violence, eating disorders, trauma and grief.
Krista has maintained a private practice in St. Albert since 2013. Her focus is on mental health, grief, trauma, and trauma exposure. Krista also teaches in the Social Work Program at both MacEwan University and the University of Calgary. Courses she has taught include Grief and Loss, Mental Health, Trauma, and Addictions, Children and Adolescents, Families, Interviewing Skills and Group Work.
She has a special love of working with adolescents and their families. She believes that everyone in a family is impacted when one member struggles. Krista's approach includes a practical person-centred approach in her work with clients. She uses Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, mindfulness and narrative approaches. Krista is also trained in EMDR, Solution Focused Therapy along with other therapeutic interventions. Krista believes that change is not only possible but inevitable with the right supports.
