Dedicated to Protect, Proud to Serve

Melissa St. Denis MSW, RSW

Melissa St. Denis engages with her clients to support them in achieving whatever they are looking to, through the therapeutic process. She prides herself on establishing a collaborative, non-judgmental environment where clear goals can be identified, and positive change can occur. She currently works with actively serving Canadian Forces members at CFB Edmonton, veterans, first responders, and the general public (ages 15 and up) in her private practice in St. Albert.

She is a Cognitive Therapist and is trained in Level 2 Gottman and other cognitive methods for couples. She assists spouses and families of members who are suffering with any traumatic injuries. Melissa also has advance training in CBT targeting depression, anxiety disorders, and for suicide prevention. She has a keen interest in supporting individuals as they work through a variety of psychosocial concerns, including adjustment to many of life’s transitions, relationship strain, interpersonal or occupational challenges, stress management, and grief to name a few.

Melissa understands that each individual comes to her office in and from a different place. She recognizes the importance in considering the impact her client’s environment has on them, from their immediate family, to their childhood and upbringing, or their work, religion or culture. She strives to highlight people’s strengths, and empower them to achieve the goals they set out for themselves. Melissa is flexible in her approach with clients, and given her background in various treatment modalities she will work hard to ensure the ‘right fit’ for each individual is established.
