The Edmonton Police Service is committed to reducing or eliminating drug operations from the City of Edmonton. The Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement (EDGE) Section has a bold mandate comprised of three main objectives:
- Investigate, gather intelligence and organized operations to cripple or disrupt the drug trade in Edmonton and the surrounding region.
- Exchange intelligence with other agencies to suppress illicit drug trafficking on a local, national and international level.
- Provide expert witness testimony.
In addition to this formal mandate, EDGE also works with outside agencies, media and other groups to provide public education and current drug trends.
