Following a traumatic event, children often experience the same feelings as adults, but they may have difficulty putting their feelings into words. Some children may also express their emotions more intensely. Their fear, anxiety, or anger may be channeled and expressed through changes in behaviour. They may have nightmares, trouble eating, or difficulty sleeping.
These responses are normal reactions to stress.
