Alarm Control Detail is responsible for the administration of the City of Edmonton Alarm Systems Bylaw #10922. This includes: issuing & maintaining alarm permits, reviewing all false alarm reports, issuing false alarm fees, suspending and cancelling alarm permits, issuing violation tickets, and working in collaboration with both the alarm industry and alarm permit holders to reduce the number of false alarms reported to the Edmonton Police Service each year.
In 2016 the Edmonton Police Service introduced Enhanced Call Verification (ECV) as a method to reduce the number of false alarms police respond to. This has led to a reduction in the number of false alarm response fees issued each year to home and business owners.
